For a long moment, they just stand there, side by side, as the coffin is fully lowered into the grave. He stands up, picking up Ava and starts walking slowly toward the car. He doesn’t want to be here anymore. He doesn’t want to face the world outside. He just wants to go home, to the place where he and Ava can cry in private, where the raw pain won’t be on display for anyone to see.
