Summary
The first time he sees it, he thinks that he’s dreaming. That instead of getting up, dragging himself to the shower and looking at his exhausted reflection in the mirror, he must have turned back around in bed and acknowledged that today wasn’t going to be the day. Just like it hadn’t been the day yesterday, or the day before that, or the day before that.
But the water droplets rolling down his back feel real, and the fog on the mirror feels real, and when he wipes away the condensation, he sees it just as clearly as he sees himself.
