Daniel can think of plenty of things he’d rather be doing than attending a Talamasca office party. Like getting his tonsils removed via his asshole, for instance.
He isn’t even really sure why he’s there. Well… yeah… he kind of is.
Sure, he’s already paid his dues to the Secret Order. He let them publish "Interview" under their imprint, let them edit the ever-loving shit out of it, let them use him to push their message about this whole Great Conversion thing (Daniel still cringes at the name—it’s a bit too Q-anon for his liking). He doesn’t owe the Talamasca shit, certainly not his presence at a fucking office party in fucking London where it’s cold as balls, and there’s a fucking blizzard blowing up outside.
There’s only one reason he’s bothered staying at least somewhat in their good graces. He let them use him, and now he’s going to use them right back. Because surely, someone at this fucking off-brand X-files hellhole must have some idea of where his fucking maker is.
