Boy meets boy in Saskatchewan might have been a nice way of putting it. In truth, when Ilya met Shane, he'd been vaguely put off by the man—a kid back then, really-telling him not to smoke.
Who the hell do you think you are, he would have said, had he the vocabulary for it.
Or maybe, do you know that when you're irritated, your nose scrunches like a kitten.
But memory is a fallible thing, because he's also sure his teenage self would have wanted to say-
Mama, I'm never going to forget him as long as I live. -

i came back to just to make sure i bookmarked this and saw someone left a public bookmark with just the word “bad”??? actual insanity for so many reasons.
genuinely cant even consider this fanfiction beyond the base foundation for ilya and shane but it is truly just a stunningly written story. i cried. i laughed. and then i read it again after i finished it the first time bc i didnt wanna let go. its not a light read by any means but its so so beautiful and has so much substance and cool history tied into the storyline. boo on that user who left that public bookmark. it takes you two seconds to click the private tab and save this wonderful author from seeing your subpar written grievances!!!
