Chapter Text
(Obligatory disclaimer, I do not own AsoIaF/GoT, they are GRRMs baby, I'm just chasing the plot bunny through it!)
Chapter 1 - Seek
The wind howls like a living thing as Cassie urges Stygian forward, Shadow loping silently at their side, his massive paws leaving large prints in the fresh powder.
She was born the same night as Jon Snow. Same hour, same blood, same grey-eyed mother who died whispering two names into the dark. The midwife and the Kingsguard never knew Lyanna had carried twins.
One boy, dark and solemn, was smuggled to Ned Stark’s waiting arms. The girl, smaller, pale as moonlight, already too quiet, was taken north instead, beyond even the Wall, by a wildling woman on her own hunt in Dorne who vanished into the darkness before the sun rose.
Cassie was raised by shadows and frost. The Free Folk called her “the Ghost Child” because no one ever saw her coming. They whispered when she was seven, she tamed a direwolf pup the size of a pony with nothing but a look.
When she was twelve, she stole the blackest colt ever foaled in the haunted stables of the Nightfort and named him Stygian, because not even starlight touched his hide.
By sixteen she wore the night itself as a cloak, and the songs said her hair carried the color of weirwood sap mixed with dragonfire.
Now, years after the rebellion, something pulls her south like an iron chain around her heart. Dreams of a black-cloaked brother with her same eyes, dreams of a wall of ice cracking, dreams of fire and blood and a promise whispered over two cradles.
“You will find each other when winter comes.”
So Cassie rides for Winterfell, for the first time crossing south of the Wall, Shadow’s breath steaming blue in the air, Stygian’s hooves striking sparks from the frozen Kingsroad.
She doesnt know Jon was the Lord Commander, nor that he is dead and un-dead and wrestling with ghosts of his own.
She only knows one truth, cold and certain as Valyrian steel.
Her twin is waiting.
And winter has come.

(Hi, I originally started posting this story on ffn but I decided to move it over here as well. I try to update on Wednesday and Sunday. The beginning chapters are where i started muddling my way through, the later chapters are better formatted i think. This first chapter is more a highlights of the story than an actual chapter, kinda like a movie preview or a blurb on the back of a book. I hope you enjoy!)
