Work Text:
she doesn't remember how long ago it even happened, just that she vists this grave everyday, and everyday the same tears fall as she looks at the name on it.
everyday she feels this strange feeling she never felt before, grief and love mixing but also like she should have stopped this... maybe that is love these thoughts her final infinite act of devotion.
for one last time i would love to see your face again, i would love to hear your voice even for a second, she thinks as her tears pitter and patter against the dirt that jackie is buried under.
buried forever, stuck in forever, trapped away from the world, maybe for her own benefit or shauna's.
perhaps this wasnt an act of hate or love from the universe but an act of neutrality and fate, jackie was always going to die, everyone will, but perhaps she was always going to die tragically before she got what she wanted.
something inside shauna speaks, its not her but its someone, "i love you" she isnt quite sure what to say, so she says nothing, just like always, she says nothing even if she doesnt like it.
it speaks again louder, "i love you" shauna looks at the headstone instead of looking down, tears soak her flannel she looks at the headstone at the top it says "Jaqueline Taylor" the bottom says "1977—1995", she keeps crying and looking, waiting for the thing in her to speak back, but it doesnt, not yet.
"i love you" she speaks into the grave with no reply
"goodbye" she leaves a flower, and stands up tears soaking her flannel.
"i love you too", it speaks back.
this happened, and it will happen again.
"goodbye" it speaks.
