“I don’t, hm, no. I never really intended for that to be the path that my influence went down. It always seemed - impossible - because I spent majority of my life terrified. I spent majority of it denying and alienating myself out of fear, and maybe a subconscious amount of disgust. It never seemed fathomable when I spent majority of my life in locker rooms and on rinks where the very thing I am is used as the worst insult you can throw. I thought I’d live out the rest of my life in this weird space of discomfort. But, even if it’s because I was outed so horrifically, I am glad that I can be a part of a changing landscape. That kids don’t have to live in the same state of shame and discomfort and fear I did. I just hope I can help. That’s all I want with all of this.”
