THE CONVERGENCE
High Magistrate Alfor rules from the central city where all six districts meet. The Convergence Academy sits at the center. About 200 years ago, the Consolidation forced all magic into six types, destroying or hiding everything else. The six-element system is artificial, created for control: dozens of magic types existed before.

THE SIX MAIN MAGIC TYPES
1. TERRAMANCY (Earth Magic) - Everdale District
Control plants, rocks, and earth. Can heal through earth energy. Weakened indoors and away from the ground.
Characters: Pidge, Hunk, Colleen, Nadia
2. AQUAMANCY (Water Magic) - Streamhollow District
Control water from any source including air humidity. Used for combat and shields. Needs some water source to work. Considered one of the weakest types.
Characters: Lance, Veronica, Lance's family
3. EMBERMANCY (Fire Magic) - Cindereth District
Create and control fire and heat. Great for forging and metalwork. Emotions affect control. Weakened by water.
Characters: Keith, James Griffin
4. AEROMANCY (Air Magic) - Skyvern District
Control wind, fly, and manipulate weather. One of the most powerful types. Removing air from someone is considered dark magic.
Characters: Allura, Coran, Ryan, Ina
5. UMBRAMANCY (Shadow Magic) - Shadowfen District
Solidify shadows into weapons and shields, create illusions, read emotions. Needs contrast between light and dark. Very mentally exhausting. Feared and segregated by others.

6. LUMENMANCY (Celestial Magic) - Luminarch District
Spell books, star magic, enchanting objects, and protective wards. Needs a tool like a wand or book. Slower than elemental magic.

HIDDEN MAGIC TYPES
7. GLACIEMANCY (Ice Magic)
Hidden settlements north of the Convergence, moving every 5 years. Creates and manipulates ice, separate from water magic. Was supposed to be absorbed into Aquamancy 200 years ago but refused and went into hiding. Aquamancers with the right aptitude can learn it.
Characters: Nyma, Rolo, Elder Thace
8. PSIOMANCY (Mind Magic)
Mind control, complete illusions, mental manipulation. Status unknown - possibly extinct. Only known practitioner is Haggar.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
Memory Keeping - Reading and storing memories in water or ice. Was lost during the Consolidation.
Fusion Magic - Combining two opposing elements. Creates purple-black flames. Only happens when two different magic type users have a child. Very rare and powerful.
Familiars - Magical animals that bond with and amplify a magic user's abilities. Most casters get one around age 19-20.
