Latin; a dead language with no practical applications except perhaps the deciphering of old texts and as a particularly quaint party trick.
Thankfully, as Harry finds out, Latin is not as dead as he was first taught when he decided to learn the language. It wouldn't have mattered anyway, of course; he loved Latin, and would have been proud to know it even had it been as useless as it was pretty. But in the world of Wizards, the world of Magic, Harry realizes his rare talent with words is particularly valuable, and allows him to use magic that no one's ever heard of, that no one's ever seen. But as time goes on, and he becomes more and more entangled in the webs spun by those around him, he starts to realize just how deep the magical rabbit hole goes and how dangerous power like his can be.
All Harry had ever wanted was for the world to make sense.

Percy’s mother was nice, pretty, caring and terribly unlucky.
Percy knew that. He knew that his mother had been through a lot, and he also knew that the tale she had told him, about parents that died in plane crashes and uncles that died of cancer, was not the truth. Or at least not the entirety of it anyway. He still remembered the one time he had found this book squashed somewhere in the last nook of the bookshelf. It was a deep green and when he opened it the name Saffine Riddle was written on the upper left corner in neat letters.

Summary
Children’s hair sometimes changes color as you grow. When he’s young enough for it not to be unusual, but old enough to know he’ll get in trouble for doing something ‘freakish’ again, Harry's hair goes from his father's dark locks to his mother's bright, most-likely-magical red hair.
It changes everything about who he identifies with, who he wants to grow up to be, and who he thinks he is. Instead of having James Potter as his idol, Lily turns out to be a much better influence.
So instead of seeing a scruffy, most-likely-muggleborn boy standing beside him in Madam Malkin's before their first year, Draco only has eyes for the scarlet-haired, green-eyed creature who just walked into his life. The Potter Luck strikes again, and Harry wakes up in a coffin, trapped. From there, he proceeds to ignore his exhaustion and injuries in order to run from a weird kneazle-thing. He doesn't know what this strange place is, but he doesn't intend to stick around long enough to find out.
