Summary
Kara is at the end of her nursing shift when a violent man is brought in with an arrow wound. When he spits blood on her, Kara is transported elsewhere. Soon she's doing emergency wound care on book characters and trying not to lose it. She can't watch people suffer even if it isn't real, but Aragorn is very suspicious of a woman who tells no clear story and smells like an orc.
“Stranger things have happened than you or I have years to tell of it," Gandalf said. "Why does she unsettle you? Surely you do not feel threatened. I am tolerably certain you could defeat her if it came to violence.”
Aragorn scoffed at his gentle humor. “I’m glad to amuse you. There are more dangers than warriors and swords. Need I tell a wizard that?"
“I can assure you she is not evil and has not a whisper of magic.”
“Yet a beautiful woman appears directly in our path, leagues from civilization, and immediately gains the hobbits’ trust. No wizardry, you say?”
Kara was not *unhappy* at being called a beautiful woman (although his standards for human women, as opposed to elves, were probably low), but she was unhappy to be stuck eavesdropping. She’d seen this scene too many times in movies. They would definitely see her. -

Summary
Have you ever done something you knew was just a bad idea? Penelope White, Nell to anyone who knew her, was the person that showed up to keep that bad idea from killing you...right up until her own bad idea did something worse. Now she's stuck in a world that isn't her own, where monsters are real, technology isn't, and a very cranky man with the most gorgeous everything she's ever seen is her only chance to survive. What could possibly go wrong? Everything, everything could go wrong, but maybe that isn't such a bad thing.
Update Note as of 05/13/2026 - I've edited down and condensed a lot of the smaller chapters. This will make the comments posted before the above date make basically no sense in the context of the chapter they were posted on, but it was better for the story over all.

Summary
Thor is a beast, prowling the halls of an empty castle alone, living a life of cold, barren solitude. Villagers visit once yearly to bring him gifts he does not seek, piling valueless trinkets at his gate they feel will keep him appeased. They hate Thor and Thor knows, someday, that they will breach his gates and come for his head. He wonders to himself, often, if he will try to stop them when they do.
This year, though, the offering has changed. Thor finds not trinkets at his front gate, but a girl, and then everything begins to change.
