Comment on Don't You Shake Alone

One kudos heart is not enough to express my love for this story! I laughed, I cried. Your Nate and Brad and Ray are so REAL. I love Ray's comment about his idealism of Nate being stripped away--yeah, officers are people, too. Even good officers. And people get wounded, even in invisible ways, and get in over their heads, and sometimes sergeants have to use command voice on their former COs.

I loved Dr. Lee. And Nate's parents, who just want to know someone can reach him. And Brad's parents--what a gorgeous exploration of Brad over the years and how he finally gets parenthood. I hope he remains empathetic through Linus's adolescence!

And the theme of The Odyssey throughout--wonderful. I'm just waiting for Ray to start calling Nate Penelope. :D

      ♥ back! Thank you! :D

I'm so glad you enjoyed this, especially all the side-characters woven in! And, oh man, the whole Odyssey thread really kind of crept up on me--it was embarrassingly far into the story before I realized exactly what I was writing. And I seriously considered having somebody call Nate Penelope in the story, but I figured I'd leave that to your imagination. ;)

      1. I was just rereading this, and then I started reading the comments and saw this. And now I have this horrible image in my head of Nate working all day on his dissertation, then deleting it at night.

Ah, well, he's at least as much Sarah Conner as Penelope--he's got things to do to make the world safe for Linus! He can, if necessary, scare off importunate suitors by being TERRIFYING instead of just busy. *g*
