This is fantastic! I'm a big fan of the slow build story, and I love the origins you've added here, particularly that Clint fits in a SHIELD, that he has friends and that Nick recruited him. It makes for a richer, more developed human and not the damaged!Clint we're most familiar with in fandom, I think. I really enjoyed that it was Phil who was wrong-footed here and that he's fallible, too. I guess what I'm saying is that you write them as fully flawed, really wonderful human beings, and that's awesome! Plus, your team dynamics made me smile a LOT. I love fics in which the Avengers are mostly functional family. Bravo!
Thank you! I don't have much of a comics background, so it was nice to attempt a different take of how Clint and Phil could have gotten to where they are during The Avengers. My goal for this fic was to build a Clint that could believably continue on at SHIELD without needing to lean on Phil. I thought it made their "breakup" more believable and has them on a more equal footing by the time they finally get together.
