How is the search function going to work with regards to the different mediums now hosted on the site? Is fan art taggable like fic, and how will that work if you search via tag? For example, if I click on a fandom tag (or any other tag), will I be shown both fic and fan art for that fandom, and will there be an easy way to narrow the search so it only shows the fic (or only the art, depending on preference)?
This is something that I've been wondering too, because if there is no way to exclude it, it will cause problems for ficathons like Yuletide (and presumably also any possible artathons of similar nature that might be held on AO3) by screwing up the numbers.
Before fanart hosting is introduced, we'll be completely redoing our 'post new' form to allow for different media, and adding special tags for different media types. We're still figuring out exactly how it will work, but there'll definitely be a way to filter for just art, or just filks, or whatever.
