It's been a good long while since I wrote this, but I do still feel strongly about the memory stuff, especially given how Rocky's memory and Grace's lack thereof both set the pace of the plot and the book as a whole. And multiple promise words... well, synonyms still exist among a single language. Between multiple languages from different planets, some shenanigans are bound to be afoot. And yeah, ironically I do remember being in your position, having read PHM, and having this very specific angle I wanted to see scratched. Glad to have done it justice.
