Extremely not happy with the format of the new subscription emails, I'm sorry to say; I really prefer to see the story titles in the message subject line because it prompts me to actually click on the email. With the new, bland "subscription update," my eyes just skim over it and 90% of the time I'm don't check to see what was actually updated. Which sucks, because it means I'm missing updates I did want to see.
Then again, this wouldn't be as much of an issue if we could subscribe to specific stories rather than just authors, because then I'd know I was only getting notices I want, rather than every single thing an author publishes.
And while I'm complaining... the search function really needs a "NOT" option! I'm tired of trying to search for gen and have stories inexplicably marked both gen and m/f and m/m pop up. It makes it very hard to search for SFW stuff.
(Hi, speaking user-to-user here so I can't answer everything - I agree that I'd prefer better subject headings for story alerts! - but you can subscribe to individual stories; at the top of every work is a "subscription" link that will alert you to any new chapters that are posted for that particular story. And you can do 'not' searches using a "-" so searching: loki -"m/m" -"f/m" will get you works tagged with Loki but not m/m or f/m (the quotes around "m/m" are necessary otherwise it doesn't parse the slash correctly). Unfortunately we can't yet do not filtering, which is annoying - so you can't bring up a list of tagged works and then take out one of the tags - but I know that's on the list so hopefully eventually? *fingers crossed*)
