   (Hi, speaking user-to-user here so I can't answer everything - I agree that I'd prefer better subject headings for story alerts! - but you can subscribe to individual stories; at the top of every work is a "subscription" link that will alert you to any new chapters that are posted for that particular story. And you can do 'not' searches using a "-" so searching:
   loki -"m/m" -"f/m"
   will get you works tagged with Loki but not m/m or f/m (the quotes around "m/m" are necessary otherwise it doesn't parse the slash correctly). Unfortunately we can't yet do not filtering, which is annoying - so you can't bring up a list of tagged works and then take out one of the tags - but I know that's on the list so hopefully eventually? *fingers crossed*)
