A panic attack was not the greatest time to discover anything and since his brain had been all over the place, Stiles couldn't put together much information about what had happened. He figured that it had to have something to do with emotions and will and he always did have a problem with impulse control. Just going with his gut he stared at an innocent toast point that had escaped the devastation of four hungry men and kind of pushed at it with his mind.Spectacularly, nothing happened.
"Stiles, why are you glaring at toast?" Scott asked, sounding slightly worried.
"If offends me," he said and then grinned.
Clearly it was more complex than just willing something to happen. He needed to think about it some more.

It had been an awful day, like, more so than usual, even for Nathaniel’s really low standard. He was used to having bad days—a good or even just okay day was extremely rare and usually didn’t last long.
The best example had to be his time as the Evil Illustrator. Chloe smashed his dreams in front of everyone, even the girl he had loved for years, Marinette, but he’d been given powers. He showed restraint many of the other akumatized victims hadn’t in just messing with Chloe and not trying to kill or get rid of anyone and had managed to get a date with Marinette on his birthday no less! He had used his powers to make it romantic and managed to stand his ground well enough against Hawkmoth to finish the date…until Chat Noir ruined it and Marinette betrayed him. It was like the light he had before that was just smashed in one fell swoop. His heart wasn’t just broken, it was smashed into the ground and drug through the mud.
Despite everything, though…it was still the best day of his life. Which was…sad to say the least.

TIME TRAVEL — Pretty straight forward time travel. 24yo!Cloud is sent 10 years into the past (where yes, his little self does exist — but Little!Cloud doesn’t really have much to do with the story Anyways.) A big chunk of it has been spent on establishing shots. Cloud deciding what to do, Cloud going off to Wutai to judge Sephiroth, and inevitably finding himself back in ShinRa.
THOUGHTS — Pretty good! I’m not a fan of the big chunk of paragraphs at the beginning of the chapter, too much telling for my poor attention-span. But the writing is pretty solid otherwise. Plot has been interesting as well! This is the first fic I read where an adult Cloud is sent (with a physical body), so far back into the past. It’s pretty interesting! And it promises to be quite a fun premise. I like the strong character focus on Cloud as well. The author doesn’t make a mistake on piling too many eggs on one basket! And the subplots are done in a way that moves the actual plot forward without being too out-of-nowhere.
Kinda sad that it’s not longer T.T but I’ll definitely be coming back to it once more.

ooooh, you did warn me about the "ambiguous but optimistic ending" but I still want to believe that the long gap means Alex went to law school (Stanford, maybe even?!) and graduated and returned to what I assume was New York City to work for Pez.
