Both parties were too distracted with their lives and anger to notice someone stalking Dick until he recieves a threatening text about 'family secrets'. There was no secret, but there were nanoprobes in his siblings and a trigger in Deathstroke's hand. Now he's under Slade's heel, forced to be his apprentice and undergo training Batman refused to prepare him for. All he wants is to save those he cares about, but the temptation to kill this one man is growing every day.
And Bruce and the rest of his family? They're freaking out, pulling every favor they can to find him from what small string of clues they have. Turns out not even a retired Batman funding the Justice League can find a teenager kept captive by a world-class assassin.AKA, the Apprentice arc from the Teen Titans cartoon, and yes, they are still important here.

5-28-26: (okay, so no one was going to tell me that I was time traveling to August?) ANYwho, finally decided on the name. You, uh, you you say the name of the .hack stuff. And I don't even think I explained why, even. Well, simply put, Caine got deleted, in-canon... but here he didn't. He got _almost_ deleted. Files that are partially deleted... they're just corrupt, are they not? So, yeah. I also kinda wanted to emphasize how that changes not only him, but everyone else. Because no character is coming out unscathed. Like... NO one. Everything changes. Everything corrupts. :P
