Summary
Once upon a time, the world had promise, and life. Then the Helium Wars happened, and for a moment, it seemed like both were gone. But out in the desert, hope manages to survive.
Once upon a time, there were four young men who traveled around the desert, fighting crime against the evil Battery City and their Draculoid agents. They were accompanied most often by a young Girl with a boom box.. and occasionally an older girl with a spark in her eye.
9 years ago, there was a horrible accident. The older girl was terribly injured, and the younger was kidnapped. The four men were able to find and save them both, at the cost of their own lives.
9 years have passed, and the two young women have grown up. The Zones are in much better shape than when they were young, but the threat from Battery City continues to loom. Folks go missing. Supplies appear in strange places. A few people develop abilities. And something is keeping the occupants of the Zones from seeing what's on the Outside.
The desert holds memory. Memory will be the key. And sisterhood will be the salvation.

Jimin ignored Kobra Kid’s indignant “Hey!” and tried to organize the thoughts flying through his spinning mind.
Oh fuck. It wasn’t just Party Poison. It was the entire goddamned Fabulous Four, the leaders of the Killjoy terrorist movement. Jimin inhaled a shaky breath. Thankfully, they didn’t seem to recognize who he was, as he had only ever faced off with the Fab Four from a distance, in the heat of battle.

Summary
“I just—I’m sorry.” They bite their lip and look away. The ghost of Party Poison’s coyness on a body that doesn’t know how to wear it. Anger is coiling in Ghoul’s gut, cold-blooded and slow. When they look back up, their eyes are beetle-black and shining in the moonlight. “I wish I could remember.” So simple. Like words might still mean something in the desert.
Ghoul takes the coward’s way out. The slam of the diner door punctuates his exit, final like a signature, leaving Poison small and alone under the stars.
Months after losing Poison during a run-in with a squad of Scarecrows, the Killjoys are barely holding themselves together. When they find a Lobby runaway with a familiar face, their tenuous peace collapses. A changed Poison and the remaining Killjoys are left to navigate anger, grief, and the ugly spaces in between.

Luckily, they’d been reunited, and the two had spent the next several years raising The Girl and building a name for themselves. Staying out of the City’s watchful eye was all they could try to do to keep themselves safe, even if that meant distancing themselves from others.
Five years ago, Party Poison and Kobra Kid had broken out of the City and started a new life in the Zones. Running on luck and arrogance had built a name for themselves, and they’d finally found acceptance that they’d never had before. If only being so notorious didn’t come with a price tag and a wanted poster…
When the two families find themselves thrown together, they’ve got to learn to live with each other, and fight back when the City comes to take what’s theirs.
