Summary
During the siege of Camelot due to Cornelius Sigan, Arthur discovers that Merlin is a sorcerer and he banishes him from Camelot.
Merlin, desperate, accepts Sigan's proposal to join him.
For two years, no one knows anything about the young servant until the Kingdom is once again under attack and Arthur has to face an old friend.An old love.

“Who are you?” he asked slowly. “From the way you speak it almost seems that we know each other”.
The figure exploded in laughter as loud as it was cold, devoid of fun. It made his skin crawl. Yet it kept something known to Arthur.
That laugh.
“I would say that it took you very little to forget me, Sire”
A hand slowly lowered the hood from its head revealing hair as black as night. The figure bowed regally before the Prince, slowly treading every gesture.
Arthur's bowels crumpled in terror of what was happening.
That irreverence.
The shadow passed a hand in front of his face letting the dark mask fade as if it were made of air showing that familiar face.
“Don't you say hello to an old friend, Sire?”-

"How do you know that?"
Arthur closed his eyes, expression riddled with irritation before turning to look at Merlin expectantly.
"Know what?"
“The mare I use. You know I call her Daisy? I never told you that." Merlin explained. Arthur stared for a few moments. He could see the flicker of emotions pass easily over him. Anger, annoyance, exasperation, indignance, and finally acceptance...AKA the Five Stages of Grief (Pendragon Edition).
"You talk to the horse.” He pointed out. Merlin narrowed his eyes.
“I whisper to the horse."
"...am I supposed to not hear it?” Arthur asked. Merlin wondered how likely it would be that he also heard him whispering magical spells if he heard him murmuring to the bloody horse. “Also, only you would choose such a ridiculous name.” He muttered. Merlin swallowed. This wasn't a problem at all, right? Right.

Merlin knows Arthur well. Better than he knew himself apparently. What he hadn't expected was for Arthur to know his servant just as well... This causes problems. (also known as "The Time Merlin Had a Mental Breakdown Over Arthur Being a Normal Human")

Summary

Summary
Lancelot hadn’t meant to overhear the conversation, he really hadn’t. He was simply trying to find Merlin to inform him that Arthur told him to tell Merlin that he was late, and subsequently get the manservant to get a move on. It was an utterly pointless task, really, as Lancelot was certain that Merlin knew he was late, probably didn’t care, and as if any one of them could make Merlin do anything. But, it was a request from his king, so he was not in any particular position to deny it. Lancelot knew that Merlin liked to linger in the servant’s quarters, often engrossed in the most recent gossip of the day. It was an endearing trait, truly, but not when Arthur was ready to rip a speech he’d already tried to write three times in half.

Summary

His hands were still there because he could feel them and one of them was holding up his spoon.
