Shane shrugged again. “Sure, but Canada didn’t have you.”

Svet laid a hand gently on his own and he turned his attention back to her that concerned look had grown and matured into something quickly approaching sympathy. He looked back at Hollander and found his attempt at a smile gone. He looked sad and a bit lost. Was Shane on a date? The man was seated too close to Shane to be casual.
Or Shane leaves Ilya's home in 2016 and never returns. A few years later they see each other at a restaurant while Shane is on a date.
