"You can come out." Her voice is a quiet command.
He obeys, a sharp-cut silhouette emerging from shadows illuminated only by the faded gold lamp on the wall behind him. It's strange to see him here, in this alley perfumed with the stench of humanity. He's someone who belongs in castles of old, simultaneously the white knight and the fanged Count.
"I'd say I don't bite but... well", her lips split into a bloody smile. His eyes trace the movement. Instead of glancing away as she expects him to, he looks up and holds her dead-eyed gaze.
"Elena."
Her brain automatically supplies the customary response, his name burning the tip of her tongue. She forbade her lips from moving, nonverbal reply echoing around the alleyway.
Now he looks away, her silence evidently speaking all too loud.

Caroline stood before the Boarding house. It looked the same as it did four years ago, when her world wasn't full of supernatural problems, just regular teenage ones. As she entered, the shouting only intensified, and when she greeted, there was only silence left. All of them looked like she remembered, huddled into one corner while what she assumed were The Originals stood in the other. The Salvatores, Elena and Bonnie, Matt, hell, even her mother sat there nursing a glass of Damon's precious bourbon. Her mom, her mom who just four years ago chased her with a gun trained on her heart, broke the silence first. "Caroline? Is...is that really you?" Her mother's eyes brimmed with unshed tears, while the rest looked at her with a mix of confusion and mistrust. She couldn't really blame them, but they were in a time crunch, and they didn't really have time for that shit.
"Caroline Forbes died four years ago. My name is Caroline Gerard," she said with confidence, "and I'm here to help."

"Please! Please help me, he going to kill me!" She cried grabbing at his tailored clothes. He looked down at this small child, her wide bright blue eyes pleading for his help. He couldn't help but wonder why someone would try to kill her, for a moment he thought maybe it had been one of his siblings hunting her.
"Who is trying to kill you?" He questioned. leaning down to look into her eyes.
"My father. My father is going to kill me." With those words his eyes darkened. He straightened for a moment, trying to collect himself. Willing the storm inside him to clam. He could hear the footsteps approaching rapidly, He bent down to speak to the child again. Warm eyes meeting her frightened ones.
"Worry not, I will take care of it." He told her. She looked at him as if she couldn't believe that someone was really going to help her.
"You will?"
" Yes," He spoke as he stood back up and his eyes darkened again with such anger and regret. "No father should treat their child like that."
Then he was gone, as if he vanished from thin air and she was left with the clam water of the lake being lit up by the moon.
