Summary
In the small town of Ebott's Wake, Oregon, there are many colorful characters. Perhaps none so colorful as Old Man Schmitt, at least until the Barrier was broken and the monsters showed up. In many timelines, Schmitt created a device that he thought would allow him to transcend mortality and humanity, becoming a being of limitless potential. And in one timeline, it worked.
