This decision might’ve been influenced by the fact that Talia al Ghul decided to spring her son on him and also gaslight everyone into believing that Jason is her eldest child. Also, he kills his pseudo-grandfather and kind of accidentally becomes the new R’as al Ghul, because by now, he’s way too deep in Talia’s con-shit to back out.

Right up until Rocky asks another question.

Rocky starts to relax for a split second, but then tightens when something occurs to him.
“Grace crewmates dead when you wake up. You said this, statement. You not even know your own name, remember nothing, see dead bodies, confirm?”
I nod, because if I open my mouth I will gag.
“When last time Grace touch ALIVE human person, question.”
I swallow thickly. I don’t answer aloud because I know Rocky can hear the hitch in my breath. My stomach churns with fresh bile. He senses my vital signs tick over into stress patterns and goes very, very still again.
“Grace. When last time, question.”
I clench my jaw so hard my temples ache, and beg him with my eyes to just stop.
“Grace. Please say not when… when Evil Stratt humans put you to sleep.”
I can taste grass.

Yay :(((( he makes me so sad but I love this envisioning of their journey to erid and what they go through. It feels like a love letter to phm. This reads exactly like the book, only so much more emotional and deep which was exactly what I missed. Above all, it feels hopeful. I love their little family of three or 18 and Adrian and Rocky's love for grace. They are so special to me and I love that this branched from touch starvation to finding a home in the least likely of places. I love the third part with him finding seeds, and instead of mourning his past and brush with death, he's ecstatic to give back to erid and it's people. His journey is so scary and traumatic, but in the end, he was given everything he deserved and dared to wish for it. He is so loved and so stupid I love u Ryland grace :((
