****UPDATED VERSION RELEASING 07/08/25****
"Dina brought the button-up close to her face, slowly closed her eyes, and deeply breathed in the lingering scent.
It smelled like…
...like the earth out in the woods.
Like the soap they all shared in the bath, tinged with lavender.
Like the oil she had watched Ellie rub into the fretboard of her old guitar.
Like whiskey.
Like Ellie."
A slow burn, Dina-centric story, about whether or not love can ever find it's way back home through hurt and loss.
Complete.

Please excuse my bookmarking system, I have the memory of a goldfish /// Ghost Joel. Character study of Ellie throughout part 2. She has hallucinations of Joel throughout Seattle and Santa Barbara. Really cool characterisation of Ellie and exploration of her inner dialogue. Very sad, but ends with a note of hope

Summary
Ellie hasn’t moved yet, sprawled out in a pool of her own blood wishing the world wasn’t here anymore.
She knows she needs to get up but the pounding in her heart is drowning out the pounding in her head. Each pulse feeling like another nail being hammered into her bloodied body. Pinning her down to the splintered wooden ground.
Fear paralyzing her. Getting up meant this was real, that it wasn’t a nightmare. Knowing if Dina was alive or dead.

Please excuse my bookmarking system, I have the memory of a goldfish /// Explores the timejump between the theatre fight and the day Tommy goes to the farm. Several memorable scenes, like Dina giving birth to JJ, and the day Ellie hunts a boar at a gas station near their farm and triggers an episode. The author writes in such a cool prose-like style, and has Ellie's humour down so well

*SPOILERS*
This wasn’t how Ellie expected find Abby – hands bound, hair chopped short, clothes hanging from her starved frame. Ellie had dreamed of this moment. She had nearly died for it, countless times. Her revenge was before her, and yet she never wanted it less.

Please excuse my bookmarking system, I have the memory of a goldfish /// Really interesting and original storyline for a canon divergence fic set at the end of part 2 and beyond. In summary, Ellie is too weak to fight Abby on the beach of Santa Barbara. Abby and Lev go back for her. Their journey involves reconciliation of their differences, an addition of Santa the Donkey to their party, and all-around interesting insights into Ellie, Abby and Lev. It ends with group therapy in Jackson, where Abby promises to seek out Ellie if the Fireflies ever have another chance at making a cure.

Bookmarker's Notes
Please excuse my bookmarking system, I have the memory of a goldfish /// These are mid-length one-shots that give interesting insights into missing scenes throughout TLOU2. They tie in with the author's main fic, Nail In My Head.
The author is a huge space nerd, and both fics in this series so far have had space themes. After Ellie returns to Jackson from the museum, Dina and Ellie go stargazing and smoke weed. Then, for Joel's birthday, they have a night by the campfire (Joel plays the guitar, and Ellie and Joel sing together) and Joel takes Ellie to watch a meteor shower.
The author has a very cool writing style. They have a knack for picking out these interesting scenes to explore, and give very good narrative insights using Ellie's POV. They also have the banter between Ellie and the other characters down to an art - the fics are full of great one-liners and awful puns.

Summary
Ellie and Dina are carefree. They are young and they are damn well enjoying it, despite the infected and the horrors and the potential death. They're rambunctious, they're full of beans; they're tough and seventeen, they're innocent and dirty, they don't give a fuck.
OR:
A long one-shot about Ellie's time in Jackson. It's very poetic and comfortable and they play like children, without the pain.Bookmarked by FiresideGuitar (Defy_them)

Bookmarker's Notes
Please excuse my bookmarking system, I have the memory of a goldfish /// VERY vibin' exploration of Ellie's time in Jackson before the events of part 2, starting with the day Ellie arrives there from the hospital, and ends with the dance and their night in the weed den. The author writes in second person Ellie POV, and has a very distinct and poetic style of writing. Lots to love about this one
