Trapped in another world by Pitch, Jack is near death from being cut off from MiM's powers until he is saved by a Bewilderbeast. This makes Jack mortal by day and magical at night, but it's only a matter of time before his time runs out.
With the aid of a Light Fury and a vigilante named Valka, Jack helps rescue dragons while searching for Pitch and a way back home.
At no point was meeting a Dragon Rider named Hiccup part of his plan.

It's not that they despised or mistreated her in the week she's been on the isle, not that they got the chance to anyways with Dagur's constant surveillance, but she hasn't quite earned her trust among them, either.
