Summary
Stiles grew up knowing lots of things.
Most of those things he wasn't supposed to know.
Like how his mom was really sick, but it was meant to be a secret from him.
And how his dad was worried all the time.
And his teachers all thought he was far more trouble than he was worth but tried to hide that from him too, by saying he was just 'Such a handful.'
But all of it got both so much worse and so much better after his mom dyed.Worse, because all of a sudden his dad was either drinking or working all the time, the other kids at school just kept getting meaner, and all of his teachers just looked at him with pity.
But it did get at least a little better.
Because now, Stiles had a magic secret all his own.And if there was anything Stiles knew how to keep, it was a secret.

Summary
Mindy Park is rapidly realising that the first intelligent extraterrestrial to make contact with the human race thinks they’re fucking stupid. She’s pretty sure that Dr Grace isn’t accurately translating half the things Rocky is saying, but most of what he is telling her is that Rocky has a better way of doing what NASA wants them to do, and honestly, it seems like Rocky is mostly right. She probably doesn’t want to know what the other half of what Grace’s new alien friend is saying, if the things that are making it through what she’s calling the “middle school teacher filter” are “why would you do something the dumb way when you could do it the right way”.

Mindy has a headache, Grace has trauma, Mark is confused and Rocky is wondering how humans made it in to space when they're all so, so dumb.

Summary
It had been a long and difficult 27 years since the Hail Mary had launched. Not as terrible as it could have been, but not easy. Humanity had survived and adapted, as it always did. There had been terrible wars. There had been incredible acts of kindness. There had been massive scientific breakthroughs. And now, there were two distant blips of Petrova-light, picked up by the Deep Space Network, hurtling home. Two probes, braking hard as they hurtled toward Earth holding the secrets to its salvation. They were late, or at least, not very early, but they were here.
Grace may have made his peace with dying to save Rocky, but Rocky insists they return to Earth.
