The alien—Grace—is finally asleep. Or, at least, Rocky thinks he is. He’s curled on his side, tucked away under a covering. Rocky sits on the other side of the alcove the human lies in, fiddling away with one of his many repair projects. Typically, watching another as they sleep is fairly straightforward and uneventful. Not much is needed beyond something to do and to keep a lookout for whoever’s resting.
But Rocky can’t help but focus more on Grace as he rests. He just can’t; the way the human sleeps is, quite literally, otherworldly.

Bad dreams suck. Grace wakes up from a nightmare of being on the Hail Mary, which is utterly impossible, but his throat hurts like he really did have a tube pulled out of it.
Turns out, he wasn't the only one to have that dream. Which was even more impossible than him actually being on a ship that's not even fully built.

In every sense of the word, it was a miracle Dr. Ryland Grace lived past 50. Between a forceful medically induced coma, the incident above the planet Adrian, and the close call with starvation on the way to Erid, Grace by every right should not have made it. He chalked it up to being bad at most things, including dying, somehow.

What the title says. About 11 years ago (from my perspective; relativity is weird) I was launched into space onboard the Hail Mary to figure out a solution to the Astrophage problem. Summary
A broken, disillusioned Steve Rogers is afflicted by a delusion that the mysterious assassin who nearly killed him is actually his best friend, who died 70 years ago. SHIELD wants to lock him up and return him to being a perfect, sparkling nationalist symbol as quickly as possible. Sam Wilson, who has wrestled with his own disillusionment and his own ghosts, knows that Steve needs compassion and the support of a true friend, not a forced regime of recovery that takes away what is left of his shattered autonomy.
Meanwhile, as Natasha tries to track down the Winter Soldier, her discoveries get more and more disturbing. She uncovers footage of the Soldier being subjected to, and forced to commit, horrific acts to maintain Hydra's cruel hierarchy. What's more, his resemblance to Steve's dead friend is too close to be coincidence. Grace lives a long and happy life on Erid with his cluster-members Rocky and Adrian, until he passes at the age of 95. He wakes up to find himself back in his San Francisco apartment and has to face navigating the most difficult part of his life in a language he hasn't spoken in 60 years.
OR; After finding himself in the past, Ryland Grace has to try his best to keep his head down and figure out what he wants to do with his second try at solving the Astrophage problem and returning to his family. He struggles with language barriers, culture shock, and worst of all: he never really recovered all of his memories from his first time on earth.
