*** 5/29/2025: I am currently going through and updating some spelling and grammar issues throughout the fic, along with re-wording some things to help with the flow of it. I wrote this fic when I was 17 and in the last two years, my style has changed quite a bit in a way I feel is more comprehensive and I feel like it's time that I edit this. I'm also trying to get back into writing fics and I think this is a good first step. I'm hoping to perfect this as much as possible and make it worthy of the love it's received. It was a language that only an airbender could properly form the sounds for. His friends probably didn't know what it was. They would tell him how beautiful it was, but they didn't understand the sorrow and loneliness that he wove between the currents of air. They didn't understand it was a desperate plea for someone to just answer—to tell him he wasn't alone.
Zuko didn't know what the hauntingly beautiful sound on the wind was, nor why his uncle couldn't understand the pain that was braided into it. He thought he was the only airbender in the world. For the first time in his life, he dared to hope he was wrong.
