Eddie felt the challenge like a physical slap.
"You think just because I'm younger, I don't know what I'm doing?" Eddie whispered, his gaze dropping pointedly to Buck's lips. "Give me an hour. I’ll show you that 'experience' is overrated compared to someone who knows exactly how to take what he wants."
Buck’s eyebrows shot up, a playful glint dancing in those cornflower blues. "Someone’s confident," he teased, pink lips pulled in a coy smile. He didn't say yes, but he didn't have to; the way his gaze lingered on Eddie’s mouth told the whole story. It was a silent challenge, an invitation to prove he wasn't just talk.
Or, Eddie picked up an older Buck on his first night at a gaybar.

It started with low murmurs, Eddie’s deep voice rumbling something that made Shannon laugh, a bright, carefree sound. The hand remained on Eddie’s hip, warm through the glove. Not gripping, just steadying. Reassuring. Eddie gasped out a shaky breath and fought to get his heart rate under control. Why was he so turned on right now? This was totally inappropriate. The doctor was just doing his job, a procedure he probably did ten times a day, and here Eddie was, getting hard about it.

“Did I do something?”
Buck stops and turns his head to look at him, confused. “Huh?”
“Look, I can handle it. I'm a grown man. I'd rather know.”
Buck frowns, holding out his hand to stop Eddie. “What are you talking about?”
“You haven't…” Eddie clears his throat, suddenly feeling his face really, really hot.
Buck’s frown snaps a little bit, his lips barely quirking up at the corners as he takes half step closer to Eddie. “Say it.”
“I…” Eddie’s face is on fire, his mouth is dry, and whatever courage he’d found within him has evaporated and disappeared. “I… can't…”
Buck nods, grinning. “Well, that answers your question.”
Eddie’s eyebrows shoot up. “So you're, what, punishing me?”
There’s a moment of stunned hesitation before Buck laughs brightly, blue eyes glued to Eddie’s annoyed face.
“Is not being kissed by me that much of a punishment?”
Yes. But he doesn't say it.
His face does though.
Or: Buck refuses to kiss Eddie. He's only kind of crashing out about it.

Eddie sputtered, face heating in embarrassment as his face warmed.
“We’ve all been there, man. What I’m saying though is that yes a mistake was made, but not on your part. You thought you were leaving your kid with a good person that you could trust. No one will fault you for that. What I can do is send you the security footage of the incident in case you wish to make a report, and we can go from there.”
“I see why my kid claimed you as his best friend. You really have a way of talking to people, Buck.”
Buck ducked his head, smiling bashfully, squeezing Eddie's shoulder once before releasing it.

Eddie's about to stand up from the table—to simply get the hell out of there, and wait on his Uber out of sight—when something unexpected happens. His people-watching-subject is now approaching the table, no longer sat at the bar.
"What the hell?" The man's piercing blue eyes are fixed on him.
Eddie goes tense, a nervous laugh bubbling out of him. He catches the mischievous quirk of the other mans mouth though and isn't sure what he's in for.
"And who the hell is this?" Blue Eyes whips around to face Eddie's date, eyebrow set in a firm line. Eddie wonders if he's a model or something in his free time. This was LA after all. Eddie makes a mental note to ask him if he's a model.
"E-ethan?"
"Are you sure about that E-e-ethan?" Blue-Eye's crowds into his area and sticks a finger in his chest.
