Leonardo is dead.
Or, at least, he should be. Instead, he is floating within a colorful vortex that reminds him too much of his own portals. He tries not to think too much about it. But, eventually he is forced to when the vortex spits him out into a world that used to be his home, many, many years ago.
Or; the one where Future!Leo somehow managed to luck out on a one in a million mere millisecond chance of a freak glitch in the space-time continuum that sends him back into the present, where the Invasion has been successfully driven back. And it looks like it was a one-way ticket travel.

“Exactly!” Mikey sighs, throwing himself over Casey, “I can’t go to sleep hungry! I’ll wake up with a stomach ache! I’m already weak!” Casey shifts and loosens Mikey from his back, which makes him perk up and wrap his arms around the younger kid’s head, “you can come too, Case’!”
“Sure I- Master, I can’t breathe- I’m down for anything.”
“Great! If only somebody would get up so we can go,” he drawls.
With a deep groan, Leo throws his legs over the side of his bed, “you’re paying.”
Or, Mikey is hungry, Leo is tired, and Casey is trying to make sense of this future he’s been forced into, all while sneaking out for gas station snacks.

“Can’t sleep?” He asked, poking his head in to properly look at his younger brother.
“You’re not sleeping either.” Leo pointed out, obviously dodging the question. He wrapped his arms around himself, shivering.
It wasn’t that much of a surprise. It was the middle of winter, and they were in the sewers. They made do with what they had, but it’s not like their heaters worked all the time, try as Donnie might to fix that problem. Even their blankets had been salvaged from giveaway drop off boxes, and were rather worn-down.
“Do you want another blanket?” Raph asked, already stepping out to fetch another quilt. He returned shortly, stepping into the room. Draping the blanket over his brother, he stepped back.
Narrowing his eyes, Leonardo glanced up at him. “This is your blanket.”
He nodded, not sure where this was going.
“You’ll be cold too.”
He shrugged, uncaring.
With a half-sigh/half-yawn, Leo scooted over, patting the empty spot next to him. “I’ll still be cold even with this. So... let’s compromise.”

From beside Tommy, Phil took in a sharp, shaky breath. His fathers hands started shaking slightly, as he lowered his head onto his hands. “H-How long till he. . . ?” Phil trailed off, his voice eerily quiet.
“Five to six months,” The doctor said. She then turned to Tommy. “I advise that you live the rest of your life to the fullest, Tommy,” She says with a smile but her eyes still held such devastating sadness
Tommy could only nod in reply.

Tommy, however, just wants to be treated like he’s still alive and not dying and wants to live the rest of his short life to the fullest. So Tommy makes a bucket list with the first thing being “get a friend or two.”

“Yes, it is!” Ah, there’s the anger. “I ruined people’s lives! Donnie, Mikey, Raph, they’re all hurt because of me! I made your worst mistake!” The boy looks at him, face pulled into a snarl, eyes sparking dangerously. “Don’t you get it? You’re supposed to hate me!”
Leonardo breathes in, then out. He keeps his expression calm, and he knows the air he’s giving off is of a knowing, wise leader. (He’s anything but.)

It’s only been a week since they defeated the Krang and Casey Jr. misses his sensei Leonardo dearly, so he plays back a couple holographic messages his sensei sent to him throughout the years.
Then Leo and his brothers walk in. And the group have a long, overdue conversation about what the future once held. More specifically, how it affected Casey.
