I’d also like to invite Regina—” and here Emma’s heart skips several beats, because surely she heard it wrong— “to go as well, being the 9th grade English and Spanish teacher.” Mary Margaret grins like she’s created the best idea in the universe. Emma wants to jump out of the window, and for the first time since she started working here, she feels Regina is on the same wavelength, even as far apart as they are now.
Or: Regina and Emma are teachers. Who kind of hate each other. And now they have to plan a field trip… together.

“Who am I to argue with that?” Emma shrugs, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips despite herself as she throws the coins inside her apron’s pocket.
The hint of a smile crosses Captain Mills’ face, that seemingly permanent scowl softening at the edges. She raises her tankard in Emma’s direction. “Aye, aye.”

Every savior needs a villain: but what are you supposed to do when the person who was destined to be your undoing is also the one you fell in love with? Not that she knows that, of course. Regina locked that truth deep inside her heart.
Regina admits she was a coward for separating herself from the Evil Queen, the one who made her a villain, and especially for thinking there would be no consequences. Nothing is easy when it comes to destiny. Now that the Savior believes she’s going to die (and what’s worse, at Regina’s hands) Regina has to face that truth and be willing to sacrifice herself to destroy the Evil Queen and prevent it from happening.

It’s difficult not to listen to the darkness, especially when it feels right. After glimpsing Regina's past through the dreamcatcher, Emma wants to know more. When the opportunity presents itself in the form of another dreamcatcher and a mirror, she can’t ignore it and starts looking at some of Regina’s memories to better understand her and to protect her.
After all, her sacrifice cannot be in vain; that’s what she tells herself, when guilt follows these thoughts and still she can’t let go of the darkness if it means letting go of Regina in the only way she can have her.
