Summary
I was inspired by an unintentional prompt about how many crimes your Rook has committed - and this little story started wiggling to the surface of my brain. I haven't written in about a year, but love how this fandom and the lovely Lucanis can bring me back in for some more.
This story was initially an excuse for some flirting and smut, but as always, it's growing a big dangly plot that's becoming hard to ignore. Lucanis is tracking a target when he comes across an elf in the woods who has just dispatched several loggers. As one of them was his lead, he's weighing up whether it's worth asking if she knows anything that could help him. Turns out, she can do a whole lot more than just that.
So, lets see where it takes us!

And now she might be next.
It’s enough of a threat that joining Varric‘s coworkers at Evanuris Inc. for some corporate protection starts to look like a sensible idea.
In this AU, the Veilguard are a team of corporate heroes - think Dispatch, Superheroes Anonymous or Velveteen Vs. - and for once, Rook is the odd one out to join join the team late.

They will need to travel to Quarinus, to confront Rook's parents with the conses of their quences and unravel the mystery that binds the royal family to their land.And maybe, just maybe, find a solution to the Illario issue while they're at it.
This a sequel to A Beginner's Guide to Breaking Curses, and I'm not saying it can't stand on it's own legs, but I'm pretty sure it will work better if you've read the first 'book'.

As they go through antics with the team, they both navigate through their own traumas, feelings - new and old, as well as understanding each other. Behind the Crow's confidence and suave hid the anxious, coffee-fueled and enamored man that he hid behind a wall - or maybe behind his inner demon. Opposite him is the hapless leader who also had her own mask, each one played a role, but only he saw what was behind it all.
Their friends didn't help either.

“Do you control them? The wings?” Her head tilted in question. “No.” He answered almost disappointedly. They both startled when the aforementioned appendages unfurled, stretching languidly above his head before dropping to his sides. She smiled fondly at the demon’s flaunting, like a fledgling showing off a new skill.
“They are beautiful wings, Spite.” It was true; they glowed violet in the skeletal shape of a crow’s wing. Dark smoke emanated from them at the slightest movement. The demon must have chosen that particular design; there’s no way it was a coincidence. Lucanis groaned, almost rolling his eyes. “Don’t encourage him.”

Imagine being forgotten by everyone you know. Now imagine that when you are out of the room, people forget you exist unless explicitly reminded. To be cursed to be forgotten every time you turn your back is a terribly inconvenient thing, and depressing, even if there are certain workarounds.
This is the life of one Rook Ingellvar, the newest employer and savior of the Demon of Vyrantium, Lucanis Dellamorte. He intends to help her kill the gods, and to find out why she's so damn familiar, despite having seemingly appeared in Thedas overnight, five years ago.
(A Rewrite of Forget-Me-Not, which I started a year ago with no plan and ended up abandoning. I'm hoping to finish it this time, since I have a plan XD)
