Summary
Nothing keeps the Koopa King down for long, not even a particularly painful beatdown from his archnemisis and his party of pains-in-the-shell, and especially not when he's supposed to be kidnapping Peach back. He's not going to let a little (try a lot) pain stop him from claiming what's his.
Except, he's not sure what's going on, and when he enters the final room, he doesn't understand why the love of his life is suddenly a demon. And he doesn't know what he's supposed to do about it.

Charles has a relatively good handle on his mental health at this point, but there are still times when he slips backwards, and the memories of Erik don’t help, especially when they plague his dreams. Tonight’s terror lessens his control on his telepathy to a point that he accidentally projects both his dream and his emotions to everyone in the school, and even though Hank is quick to intervene before any irreparable damage is done, Jean and Donnie take it upon themselves to make sure Charles is okay.

Donnie tried to pick a time where he was sure that Charles would never be around while he's using his space.

This fic is a spin off of both our Purple Colors stories and Currently_Obsessed's fic I Once Was A Man With Dignity and Grace.
Charles’ suicide attempt is something he has long since put behind him, but unfortunately, that event still exists in his past– and Hank’s past. Hank stumbles upon Charles’ suicide note one day while organizing his study, and he throws it away, but he misses the trash can, which leads to Donnie finding it and reading it the following day, thus learning something about Charles that he never wanted to know.
