Summary
She doesn't expect him to huff, drop his pack on the ground, and square his shoulders. "You know what? Fine. Get it over with."
"Excuse me?"
Flames roar to life on Zuko's arms. Heat shimmers off him, so hot Katara can feel it on her face, even at this distance.
"Have at it," he says. "I know you've been waiting for an excuse."

Summary
A messenger hawk practically fell from the sky and onto the deck. It croaked quietly in misery when a soldier scooped it up, its wings fluttering from exhaustion, feathers tipped in frost. The urgency that had driven the bird to fly beyond reason was immediately clear when the scroll was untied from its leg and slipped free from the oilcloth that had protected it from the elements – the wax seal of the head Fire Sage gleamed in the dying sunlight.
**
“Dead.” Admiral Zhao stared at the scroll. The almost habitual smirk was gone from his face, and his expression was almost slack from the shock. “The Fire Lord is dead?”
***
OR:
Before the Fire Nation fleet arrives at the Northern Water Tribe, news arrives that Ozai is dead. The planned invasion is called off, and Iroh and Zuko return to Caldera City to deal with the sudden change in regimes.

Summary
“Just as a note,” the dentist tells Frank, her voice low. “She may be a little… rambunctious as the sedatives wear off.”
He nods in response, his eyes trained on Mel. She grins at him, unaware that she is the topic of conversation. Rambunctious, he thinks. What could sweet Mel possibly do to be described as rambunctious?
or: frank takes mel to get her wisdom teeth removed. shenanigans ensue.

Summary
“As hypocritical as you are ignorant.” The dam burst. “You outlaw our native tongues, our bending, you blacken our skies and stain our horizons red, yet you call our people savage? You come here under the guise of brokering peace, finally, finally starved of resources and men to continue the slaughter and siege, and not for a moment can you convincingly perform humility! How can you expect to rule a nation you clearly neither understand nor respect? Through fear and intimidation? It…” Her chest heaved, and the beads of condensation trembled. “It’s pitiful.”
The general burst into laughter. “It’d be a shame to remove such a tongue! Sharp as any blade.”
The prince sheathed his blade. “We are alike in our hypocrisy, then. A thorough lashing, blunted only by the fact you delivered it while hiding amongst foliage. Pitiful, indeed.” Receding, rapid footsteps.
TLDR: A war criminal enlists the help of the child whose life he spared to stop the machine of war from consuming the whole of the world, including itself. Like a really fucked up version of True Grit! Also, Zuko being deprogrammed by experiencing basic human kindness. Also, a love letter to the natural world and humanity as a whole.
