    Summary

“I’m jealous.” It escapes before she can let herself back out, “That my sister has a sex life, and I don’t.”

She doesn’t know why she’s admitting that to him. She honestly doesn’t. It’s embarrassing.

“Right there with you.” His voice is low, “How long–?”

She chews at the bottom of her lip, doing the mental math, “Three years…You?”

    “Thirteen months.”

Warmth pools in between her legs, and she clutches his hand like it’s a lifeline.

It’s barely a whisper, she’s so afraid to say it,

    “Close the trunk.”

    ---

“Wait, holy shit, King–” The wand stills inside of her as Trinity freezes the frame.

“What?” She asks, “God, it didn’t nick something, did it? I’m not about to bleed to death?”

“No, but you might pass out.” Trinity answers, “Maybe?”

“What is it?” She tries to sit up, but Trinity’s already turning the ultrasound monitor around to show her.

Her heart stills as she takes in the tiny flickering heartbeat on the screen in front of her, “Oh–”

    Summary

Frank thought that if a gun was ever pointed at him, all he would feel is fear. Turns out, if Mel was behind him, all he would feel is anger.

He heard a sob tear its way out of Mel's throat, and suddenly he was talking.

"Hey, man," He said softly, proud that he managed to keep his hands from shaking as he held them out in front of him and kept eye contact with this lunatic. "It's- it's Teddy, right?"

When the man didn't say anything (but also didn't fucking shoot him), he took that as a sign to keep going.

"I'm Frank. I'm gonna listen to you, okay, man? But I gotta help my wife get over there, too."

    Or:

S1Ep9 of Criminal Minds, but the train is heading to Pittsburgh. And instead of Elle, it's Hotchner, Morgan, and Prentiss on the train. Oh, and Dr. King and Dr. Langdon.

    Summary

Frank Langdon is worried about Mel. She has a lot on her shoulders and doesn't know how to ask for help. He decides that he can help her by giving her moments outside of work where she's just having fun, not taking care of anyone. Mel sees this as a bid for friendship and happily accepts.

Eventually real friendship blossoms between them, then something more.

    __

Langdon is separated from the very beginning, just wearing his wedding ring at first to avoid questions or pity at work. He is not immediately looking for love or to get over Abby; it sneaks up on him.

    Summary

Even the most sharp-eyed apothecary can miscalculate.

Maomao prided herself on logic, observation, and the ability to diagnose what others overlooked. She could detect poison from a single sip and identify illness from the faintest discoloration of skin. Yet when it came to her own body, she missed the most obvious truth of all. Our Maomao still has a lot to learn.

Luckily, not every mistake ends in tragedy.
