Summary
When Merlin is caught trying to help a wrongly convicted man, Arthur claims responsibility and takes the punishment for him. While Merlin struggles to process what Arthur has sacrificed for him, Arthur finds himself having to reconsider his relationship with his father, his kingdom, and the people he has sworn to protect.

The guards took this as their cue, and on Uther’s order Merlin felt his shirt torn from his body with a sound all too much like tearing flesh for comfort. Stood only in his worn brown breeches and weathered boots, he could feel for the first time how fiercely the sun beat down on his bare skin: how exposed he was, with nothing but air between his unprotected back and the whip.

Of course, Arthur being Arthur, his pride won’t let him admit he needs anything — least of all company. Good thing Merlin is just as stubborn as him, as well as patient and understanding.

For someone like Zoro, death had simply been part of the job description when it came to his goal. You couldn’t be a swordsman- a strong one- if you didn’t accept the obvious warning signs. Neon ones that painted a clear picture: Caution ahead, high risk of dying.
That’s not to say Zoro takes his life lightly. On the contrary, he’ll fight tooth and nail to stay standing, because how else would he continue to step forward towards his goal?
Or: Part of Zoro dies during the Wano arc. The straw-hats, known to be miracle workers, are determined to figure out how to fix this.

Summary
One thing leads to another, and Zoro finds himself settling down there in the warm of the sun, leaning his back into the sandbags and rationalizing that the others will wake him if he’s needed.
He doesn’t mean to fall asleep in earnest. He just underestimated how fucking tired he was, and what should have been a light nap to pass the time ultimately becomes a whole affair, all because of some nosy fucking Marines.

He wasn't meant for the court. As his cousin Kuina would've gladly told anyone who asked, Zoro wasn't smart enough for double entendres and multi-layered alliances. He was a weapon, and he had trained his whole life to be that weapon, building scars upon callouses in preparation for the day he could join the fight on the front lines. At no point did he ask for a supposedly cozy job watching over the most protected man in the world.

Summary
Killua must be an incredibly strong man, Gon thought. Not just for the obvious, but for the fact that despite everything, his hands could still be gentle.
Gon is a Blacklist Hunter, hired by an unidentified client to locate and capture a sadistic, ruthless assassin who by all accounts doesn't - or shouldn't - exist. He's fought for his strength for this, to save people. He just wants to make sure nobody else gets hurt.
Killua is a product, the decades-long outcome of his family’s loving labour to bend, break, and torture him into a tool of purpose. He is a dog to be set loose, a judgement to be brought down. He is not supposed to want anything at all.
And then one day, he does.
(An alternate timeline where Gon and Killua never met, and Killua never escaped his family. Somehow, despite it all, they still manage to find each other.)
