Viserys died years earlier than anyone expected, leaving behind children too young to mount dragons of their own. Aegon was only ten and had never claimed a dragon, and neither his egg nor those of his siblings had ever hatched, unlike the cradle dragons born to Rhaenyra’s sons. Against them stood an already grown Queen surrounded by dragonriders, with Syrax and Seasmoke guarding her claim from above the Red Keep, and no lord in Westeros was foolish enough to challenge her openly. The war ended before it truly began. There would be no great battles, no armies marching beneath rival banners, no Dance of the Dragons remembered by singers for generations afterward. The Greens lost before they ever had the chance to fight, because in the end, blood alone meant little without dragonfire behind it.
