After the eruption of Orodruin, Adar has an unexpected encounter when he finds an unconscious Southlander woman lying face down in the ashes. In the time that follows, they find healing and peace in one another.
Adar knelt down slowly in the ash, close to the woman's body. He was struck instantly by deep feelings of sadness, and his regret pierced his heart. For he was coming face to face with the results of what he had done. The individual lives destroyed, the personal suffering. Each one, like his children, with a soul and a heart, and a name.

***I encourage those who usually don't read teachers/students to give this a chance. There are no instances in which there are taboo power dynamics, at least of a sexual nature. Heed the slow burn quite literally. A smoldering if you will.
After catching Y/N breaking the rules, Severus Snape sees the layers of the quiet student's personality peel before his eyes. The more he sees, the more intrigued he becomes as he indulges in the growing connection that exposes him to a world he thought he once knew and the peace he'd always been yearning for.

Takes place in the 90's like the movies (I'd like to think 1996 or 1997), but some character time-canon things are tweaked, so it's not strictly canon-compliant (Draco is not at Hogwarts yet/Weasley twins are in their third year). I write her being 20-21 in mind, but feel free to self-insert a different age. Reader is a 7th-year student who transferred in her 5th year. Snape being Draco's godfather fanon trope included. Malfoy family is a little OOC (not blood supremacists.)

Summary
Adar's wife dies in a revolt in Forodwaith during the early days of the Second Age. Sauron curses Adar with life eternal and he becomes impervious to all weapons, diseases and poisons. The Dark Lord rises again, but Adar has lost the will to fight.
Instead, Adar remains in the icy north, ruling as Lord of the Wastes. He is ruined and destroyed by sorrow and regret. He begins to poison himself to avoid his grief, reuniting with his wife in hallucinations.
Ages pass. One day he hears rumors of a golden-haired Witch in a forest east of Hithaeglir. Adar gives up his solitude and goes looking for this supposed Witch, she whom rumors say bears a striking resemblance to his dead wife.
Who is she?
Why does she have memories that precede her birth?
