There is a red mark around his wrist that only he could see. Light Yagami had always felt a potent detachment to reality. Perhaps he was too smart for his own good or that the world was just too slow for his liking; but sometimes he liked to think that the red mark was otherworldly, that way it justified the stagnant thick fog that always seemed to consume his existence, it justified his not being able to belong in the world. There is a red mark around his wrist that only he could see, and he hates (loves) it because it is a constant reminder of a turbid, rotten world (and that he is different from the rest of the rubbish). The Death Note provided an easy fix but what it really brought him was a game of wits that seemingly lifted the haze. With L, his mind is sharper, his heart beats faster, his breaths come swifter, and the world comes alive. Shame that he has to kill him though. Light loved him, yeah, but there were more important things to take care of like say being the god of the new world. Besides, it wasn't like they knew each other for very long anyway. Light would move on, he's sure. There is a red mark around his wrist that only he could see. And Light finds out exactly why it’s there a little too late.
