Since arriving at Camp Half Blood, Jason has been seeing the same face in his dreams, over and over. He doesn’t know their name, but from the bits and pieces of memories he’s seen, he knows that he must have been important to them somehow. Which means someone from his old life must be looking for him. And if that’s true, then it’s really only a matter of time before they find him.
OR: What if Percy never ended up on Calypso’s island after Mt. St. Helens? What if he ended up somewhere entirely different?

Summary
He figures Ilya would be pretty surprised if he showed up to his house out of the blue. Surprised enough to be put off, probably. Shane is way too bad of a liar to think of any plausible excuse. If this is really happening, if Shane is actually by some miracle getting another shot at this, then he’s going to have to play this smart. His impatience to see Ilya again will have to be tempered. He’s not sure how time travel works, but he has the sneaking suspicion that one wrong move could unravel everything.
Ilya is alive.
Just the thought of it is enough to make Shane crack his first smile in a year.

“My- my name is Shane Hollander. Today is May 5th, 2026. Uh- I was at the ball earlier today?” His eyes shift off screen, and he gulps. Ilya watches his Adam’s apple bobbing like it’s the most precious thing on Earth. Shane looks back at the camera. His eyes start shifting, like he’s reading off cue cards. “I’m- I’m asking the MLH to provide… 100 million?” Shane looks surprised, his voice cracking on the ‘million’, and he looks up from where his eyes are fixed. The video cuts to black for a moment, and then Shane is back on the screen. His hair looks different than before, messier. The cut on the side of his temple is streaming blood, a wound re opened, and one of his eyes is half shut. “I am asking the MLH to provide 100 million dollars for my safe return home.” He says, his voice trembling. Ilya feels weak.
He stumbles back into the precinct, lit cigarette still hanging off his fingers, but paying it no mind.
