Their skins were so close that Sora could feel the warmth coming off Riku’s, could feel the soft and tiny hairs that already touched. Maintaining eye contact, Sora closed the final inch.And the thing that had felt off-balance inside of him ever since they returned suddenly seemed to slot into place. Something tense that Sora hadn’t realised was there unwound, and that needy feeling he had been having for so long now suddenly felt eased, like the relief of drinking a large glass of cold water on a really hot day.

“Mm!” God, his hips were rocking, rubbing against Ed’s, and he couldn’t – didn’t – want to stop them. And the fingers. Fingers on his buttons. Offer and invitation and he nodded, pressing breathless, open mouthed kisses down the curve of Ed’s neck.
“C’n’you do me?” Ed breathed, tugging at Stede’s buttons.

Stede finds the house. When he comes back to their room at the inn, he won’t rest—won’t let Ed rest—until Ed’s seen it. His eyes are bright in that way that makes Ed’s guts feel scooped out with a spoon. So Ed hurries into his boots and goes with him.
The once-white paint is stripped by weather and wear, a portion of the roof is caved in, and the spokes of the wraparound porch are all gnawed through by animals.
Ed gazes up at the broken windows and the birds that have built nests there. At his side, Stede is waiting, rocking back and forth on his heels.
"It’s perfect," says Ed.

Joe hums at that, a small smile curling his lips as he leans into Nicky’s side, and the fond look on Nicky’s face makes Nile’s chest ache a little. “Your body forgets, but your mind remembers them," Nicky says softly. "Sometimes, your mind just remembers."

Nile is torn between learning Italian, so that she can know what they’re saying, and feeling like it’s an intrusion on something that she’s not meant to hear. "He's very protective of Nicky, isn't he?"
"You're only noticing that now?" Andy asks wryly.
“It all seems a little bit one-sided, that’s all,” Nile muses. “I've never seen Nicky be as...violently protective over Joe.” Andy just hums, and Nile glances over at her. “You think I’m wrong? I know I haven’t been around long, but I’ve seen Joe get killed in a bunch of messy ways and Nicky has never done…that.”
Andy just hums again. “Look again,” she says when Nile throws her hands up in frustration. “Watch more closely. You’ll know when you see it.”

Joe's fury is a volcanic thing, one that blazes fiercely and lives much longer than it would appear on the surface. Nicky has known that for almost as long as he's known Joe, and tonight, he's grateful for it. His own anger is deep and cold and implacable, tunneled through him so thoroughly he sometimes cannot move for all of its effects, so he draws on Joe's heat to keep him going, because now is not the time to shut down.
