Summary
The Dessendre family has ruled over Paris' criminal underground for as long as Gustave can remember. Murder, theft, trafficking, there is no crime they haven't committed, yet their wealth and influence has allowed them to walk free for generations. For Gustave and his allies, taking down the family's matriarch, Aline Dessendre, is the only way to free Paris from villainy.
Unfortunately for him, fighting the Paintress comes with many unexpected challenges, including foiling the plans of the elusive thief Visages, and getting into a fake relationship with Aline's only son, Verso.
An Enemies to Lovers story in which Gustave is a vigilante with a stalking problem and the Dessendres are supervillains.

Summary
He tells himself, as he huddles over the campfire while the others sleep and tries to keep the pain inside, that it's for the best. Gustave was always already gone. Verso will end the Canvas and, if he doesn't, Aline will die and Renoir will destroy the Canvas anyway. The end, whatever form it takes, is close and Verso's lived with worse guilt for longer.
Or: Verso sacrifices Gustave, and his bond, to end everything and free his family. Only nothing (because he's Verso) goes as planned. Maelle wins, Gustave comes back, and so do the bleeding remnants of something that barely existed.

Summary
He plunges his sword into the ground — a familiar, practiced motion. The world pauses for a moment, and he sees the purple threads of blighted chroma ensnaring Gustave; pulls, yanking them towards himself. The pulsing chroma freezes for a second, tightening around the engineer. Then, like a pouncing predator, jumps at Verso.
The world starts moving again. A wave of nausea and fatigue almost knocks Verso to the ground, and it’s a miracle that he manages to dodge the next attack.
Gustave is staring at him, trying to process what just happened.
“Run,” Verso croaks.

Gustave survives his encounter with Renoir, all thanks to the help of a mysterious (and handsome) stranger named Verso. While Gustave is grateful, he also remains on guard, uncertain about why Verso has so graciously decided to not only help, but also join their expedition. Vernon Roche remembers nothing of his life. He wouldn't have even known his name, had it not been screamed at him by the first people he met. He would have chalked it up to bad luck, if he wasn't forced to fight for his life again and again and not even know why. It seemed he had made many enemies in the past. The first person who recognises him and doesn't immediately try to cut off his head is a one-eyed elf.

When Gustave wakes to find Lumière decimated and his friends beaten and bruised, his first instinct is to run to the sound of Maelle’s voice calling his name; her cries like a battering ram to his fragile heart, smashing it to pieces. He doesn’t know how he’s alive, or why. But when he tries to hug her — to hold his darling girl in his arms — she collapses.
And that’s when he realizes something is very wrong.
TLDR; Gustave was revived in Act III but something went horribly wrong.

Summary
Verso is convinced that the expeditioners were growing weaker because they were gradually losing their dynamic. Verso hasn’t sensed another alpha strong enough to be a threat in decades. He has also never met a beta or an omega who could match his dynamic.
Enter: Expedition 33— with his headstrong soon-to-present alpha sister, a strong female alpha that makes Verso’s skin crawl, an intriguing beta who keeps trying to sleep with him, and Gustave, who says his dynamic must be broken because he’s never presented and is apparently immune to alpha commands.
Verso accompanies Expedition 33 and, against his better judgment, ends up saving Gustave, the only person Verso has met on his more than six decades on the Continent who can stand the strength of his dynamic and commands— a development which confuses them both and throws a wrench in Verso’s well-laid plans.
