Summary
No sooner had he thought that he would like to write a letter to any of them (he would, of course, send a sack of spices with the letter to Shidi, lest he go mad) than a child crashes into him.
The child is small, scrawny, in dirty tattered clothes of an indistinct color, almost like a waif who doesn't exist in Yunmeng because of the patronage of one of the great sects, and clutches at him as if his life depended on it.
The child looks at him with big tear-stained eyes when Wei Ying realizes that it is not dirt but soot, but no sooner has he asked anything than the boy says to the whole street, the whole market with joy through his sobs:
“Baba!"

Summary
He remembers the final moments; it was raining, incessantly and endlessly, and the fight seemed endless too; his opponent’s wounds are all over his body, and exhaustion is etched into every movement as he swings at him once more. The fight was eternal; the rain washes away the ashes, but the smoke lingers in the puddles; he thinks of distant summer days when his younger brother would reach out to him and pull him out of whatever shadow he was hiding in — he thinks of winter, when his brother would huddle against him, seeking warmth, but he was too cold to truly warm him; he thinks of everything and nothing — he lets go of the sword hilt without a second thought.
A stranger’s blade pierces his heart; the stranger stares at him, disbelief and horror in his eyes, his handsome face contorted, and he touches his brother’s tanned face with cold hands, tears mingling with the rain.
“Don’t cry, otouto”, says Ootsutsuki Indra, repeating the same words he spoke on his younger brother’s birthday, as he bleeds to death at the hands of the one he loved most of all.
It seems to him that with his death, the rain has stopped.
