Summary
He’s in the middle of slicing the sandwiches when Cas pads into the room. As Dean turns to look at him, his breath catches in his throat. His heart races. It’s so stupid, too because Cas isn’t wearing a cowboy outfit or anything else salacious. He’s wearing a pair of Dean’s oldest softest sweatpants and a worn band t-shirt with a hole in the collar. He looks beautiful.

Summary
“Just so we’re clear,” Sam says once they’re about halfway back to the road, “you don’t think Cas is in heaven and that’s the only reason you haven’t let yourself die yet?”
“Well,” Dean makes a noise halfway between a laugh and a sob. He stops walking but doesn’t look back at Sam. “That’s a lot more succinct than I’d have put it. I just–I know what’s on the other side, and it ain’t him.”
Sam steps in front of Dean, forcing eye contact. “I’m sorry you didn’t get more time with him.”
And then he turns and keeps up the hike. After that, it’s a long time before Dean lets himself be alone with just Sam.
OR
Chuck's been defeated. Jack is gone. Cas is dead. Sam is ready to build a new life but Dean's grief threatens to consume him entirely. Sam, Eileen, and even Claire all want to help Dean through this darkness, but they worry it's only a matter of time before Dean can't keep fighting it anymore.
Dean’s loved ones watch as he monumentally self-destructs while grieving his angel. There will be eventual happiness.

Summary
When a hunt goes awry and the Winchesters wake up in each other's bodies, secrets unfold and they learn some things about each other (mostly, Sam learns about Dean).
Things that Dean ... didn't want Sam to know. But now, people know, and the cat can't go back into the bag, as much as Dean wishes it could.
Now, alongside the chronic pain he's lived with for his entire life, Dean also has to deal with Sam knowing about it. Trying to fix it.
And Cas... well, Cas is doing his angel thing. Which Dean doesn't really have the energy to figure out on top of everything else.

Summary
Dean shakes his head, trying to clear his mind. He wants to focus on scrubbing down the kitchen after lunch, but it's difficult. He'd set down Jack for a nap half an hour ago and is trying to get through as many chores as possible. He's already started a load of laundry and emptied the dishwasher. He's hoping to sweep and mop at least the kitchen before his need to check on Jack becomes stronger than his desire for Jack to sleep. The silence is getting to him though. He resists the urge to check the volume on the baby monitor clipped to his waistband. He got it the day after finding Jack in the armory. When he realized that just because the screams had stopped didn't mean the visions had too.

Summary
Food is complicated for Dean. Although, it’s not food as much as it is hunger. He can appreciate a good hamburger for just being a hamburger, but starvation he has a more complicated relationship with. The feeling should be something that’s easier to condemn than it is, but it’s intermingled with nostalgia and memories of his father and the feeling of doing good by Sam. He loves food, but he misses missing it sometimes.
