Summary
Xavier Sylberith needed to be the best in his class at Varenthell Academy. He needed to be the perfect son for his royal parents. He needed to make them proud. Then he died.
Awakening as a being unable to die, Xavier’s needs have shuffled around juuuuust a little bit.Now Xavier needs to contain his new urges to hunt for fresh meat. He needs to wrestle control from the demon that killed him that now shares his body. He needs to placate his new companions who have killed many creatures like him in their lives.
Most of all, he needs to confront his repressed feelings about his gender, and the woman who showed him that people can change.
Heartworm is a trans lesbian fantasy adventure that blends visceral tragedy with heartfelt comedy. There are many dark moments, and many more moments of levity between a dysfunctional group of adventurers that must learn to cooperate to survive... and maybe find some love along the way. Most of all, this story is about discovering one's identity. I want to tell the story of how discovering one's identity can be the single hardest and most rewarding journey that someone undertakes.

Summary
It was like someone had turned off the sun.
He didn’t know how long he sunk for until he finally felt the bottom of the pool with his butt. But he finally had a way to orient himself. Getting his feet underneath him, he pushed and frantically swam for what he hoped was up.
He couldn’t tell how long he was under the water, thoughts as muddled with panic as they were. It could’ve been seconds, minutes, hours or even days.
His despair reached new heights when he broke the surface, desperately sputtering and gasping for breath. Automatically, he began to tread water while his hands went to scrub at his eyes, hoping that whatever it was that was preventing him from seeing would go away if he did.
But nothing changed, no matter how hard he scrubbed.
This was wrong. Seriously, seriously wrong. Why couldn’t he see?
Why couldn’t he see?!

Summary
"Did you just describe poetic meter in terms of BPM."
Kanade looked at me. "That's just... that's how I think about rhythm."
"You cannot help it," I said, wonderingly.
"Rhythm is rhythm," she said, getting a little defensive. "The organizing principle is the same whether it's language or sound. I don't see why that's—"
"It's not a criticism," I said. "I think it's honestly incredible. You hear music in everything."
//
Or, Mizuki and Kanade read and talk about poetry over a rainy day.
