Summary
THELYSS: I think I could have floated beside him in stasis forever, ignoring the obvious. Once he offered the precise object of my desire, which I had been concealing from even myself, I panicked.
INTERVIEWER: And what did you say to him?
THELYSS: We fought about it. We had to. In the Nein, it is prerequisite for doing anything.
WIDOGAST: In the end, it was about fear, as it always is.
— The Mighty Nein's rocket to fame involves more drama, mystery, abuse, sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll than any columnist can resist, but media accounts until now have been mostly secondhand. Tabloids and vultures run with the facts in the opposite direction, smearing half-truths and outrageous accusations onto any blank space, taking silence for admission.
It definitely doesn’t help that Thelyss admitted to stealing the Mouthpiece of the Luxon on national telellusion.
The following timeline contextualizes Widogast and Thelyss’s individual music careers, their collaborations, and the events surrounding a) the crimes of Volstrucker Records CEO Trent Ikithon, and b) Ikithon and Martinet Ludinus Da’leth’s undiscussed roles in the Mouthpiece of the Luxon Scandal.

Summary
Essek doesn’t date, and for good reason. It’s exhausting, the dance around feelings and pleasure, made worse by the shadow of his ill health. He’s perfectly content with the company of his Guides, their platonic exchange of intimacies fully serviceable. He doesn’t need anyone else.
Caleb Widogast is the Empire human making a valiant attempt towards involving himself in Rosohna’s kink scene. He shouldn’t be as charming as he is but Essek finds himself drawn to Caleb, caught in his gravity well, pulled past the event horizon against his will. He doesn’t quite mind, especially when Essek connects Caleb Widogast to Bren Ermendrud, the researcher on loan from Soltryce studying time travel under Essek’s purview here in the Marble Tomes.
Don’t we all have mistakes we wish to correct?
Essek has made many and, caught up in a whirlwind romance with a Dom perfect in all the ways he didn’t know he wanted, he makes many more.

Summary
“It is Kryn spellcraft. Evil stuff, I’m afraid,” Ikithon tells Bren’s parents, dripping with sympathy. “One of them must have bound your son’s soul to theirs. Injuries and other ailments are transmitted through the bond. But don’t worry. We know how to take care of cases like his, here at Soltryce.”
*
Exposure to dunamis has unpredictable effects. Two people can become entangled across vast distances in space, their future connection echoing backwards through time. The elite of the Dynasty call this phenomenon the soulmate bond.
Trent Ikithon calls it an excellent strategic opportunity.
(In which Bren thinks he's cursed, Astrid and Wulf think he needs protection, and Essek has never met him, but he knows Bren is in danger.)
