Summary
Eddie comes back from fighting in the war between human and Fae a changed person. Maybe he is running away when he uproots his and his son's lives and moves them to LA, but he prefers to think he's running toward something better. He finds that with the 118--and with Buck.
There is chemistry between Eddie and Buck from the first day they meet, but Eddie has so many reasons not to give in to it. As the years pass, though, Eddie's reasons fall away one by one. Finally, Eddie takes the leap, and Buck, of course, is there to catch him.
For a while, everything is perfect, but it cannot last. Because Buck has a secret; one that could tear Eddie's life--his world--apart.

Gil and Malcolm are captured and tortured by a vengeful ex-con who wants to make Gil pay for putting him away. When their captors tire of their usual abuse, they threaten to rape Malcolm. Gil steps in and offers himself, willing to do whatever he has to to keep them away from Malcolm.
He's expecting to take Malcolm's place. He is not expecting to take their captor's place, with some added stipulations thrown in to the mix.
Or, Gil is forced to rape Malcolm, or watch as Malcolm is killed in front of him.

Buck caught Chimney moving to intervene between them but the words were already falling past Buck’s lips before he even realized he was speaking.
“I have a boyfriend.”
Buck stopped when he registered the words.
So, did Chimney before he shot Buck a look over his shoulder like Buck had grown a second head. Probably because, like Buck, Chimney knew that Buck did not have a boyfriend. In fact, he’d been single for a painfully long time since he and Taylor split up. Single and probably very obviously hung up on his best friend who didn’t seem to notice the way Buck would throw himself into oncoming traffic if Eddie asked.
