Summary
It has the resemblance of a ritual, putting clothes, breathing with the rhythm of it, Jocelyn hovering around moving the tip of her tail nervously. A ritual of what, exactly? Going to the slaughterhouse? Opening a bridge? Bringing the end or the continuation? The beginning started, ironically, a long time ago. And neither of them, neither of the four of them, had any choice in the matter.
This, right here, he knows, is a choice.
Jocelyn nudges him with her nose. His hand goes to her head. All in sync, all almost automatic. “You ready?” she asks.
“Nop” he pops the ‘p’ with too much force. “But when has it matter, anyway?”.

Susan doesn’t think what she is doing, opening the bloody kitchen door at seven in the afternoon in a neighborhood where everyone arrives from work at five without asking who is it first, until she does it: Malika Rowland’s kid is there, another boy Susan doesn’t know just behind him, the two of them drowning in something Susan recognizes in herself more nights than not: pure white-hot-fear.

He can’t think clearly, he can’t remember if Yennefer ever told him about a man with blue eyes and a lute on his hands. He feels uprooted, marooned. Utterly lost.
He wants to be left alone with his broken dreams.
“Get out” he barks, angry with himself, angry with Yennefer, angry with the world “Get the fuck out”.
The man looks at him suddenly, the pain washed away, something like panic replacing it, his smell turning sour with it. Decomposing lemons’ acid.
“No, please, no. Please don’t kick me out” he stands up, leaving the lute on the ground, his face turning pale and sickening. His body twitches anxiously. “Please. If you. If you don’t accept me then Stregobor is going to whore me out to the soldiers” his hands shake a little. “And oh ho boy, let me tell you: that is not a pleasant experience” he swallows, the sound a howl for mercy. “Please. I would do anything, anything you want. I won’t complain. I will shut up. Please, please, let me stay. Let us stay”.
And when Geralt is going to ask why the fuck he said us he hears it: a baby’s mumble.
The world goes eerie silent.

“Just hold on!” Grace propelled himself through zero gravity, away from the radio.
