"No one knew what happened if someone stayed in the void for too long since Caine usually came along and pulled them back into the safety of the circus, but he couldn’t do anything now that he was gone. If they were to go and jump into it now, it may as well be a parallel to killing themselves. It was either that they would eventually die, or lose their mind and abstract away from the other people so there would never be the chance to hurt them more than what their actions had already caused."

No one can die in the circus (at least they don't know if they can apart from abstracting), but that won't stop anyone from dreaming. Now with Caine gone, who would stop them now if they jumped into the void?
